Estate Millwork mills the same furniture-grade hardwoods that luthiers, flute makers and instrument builders ask for by name. Buy that instrument-grade stock by the board foot — pick your species and thickness, enter the quantity you need, and add to cart. Quartersawn orientation and thick 8/4 billets are available on request.

Choose Rough Sawn to resaw and quarter your own sets. Choose S2S for face-surfaced stock you’ll thickness yourself, or S4S for boards surfaced four sides. Tell us if you need bookmatched or sequenced boards and we’ll pull them together.

About Our Tonewoods

  • Walnut ( Juglans nigra ) — warm, focused voice with rich chocolate color; a favorite for guitar backs and sides, flute bodies and drum shells. Janka 1,010, kiln-dried to 6–8%.
  • Spanish Cedar ( Cedrela odorata ) — light, aromatic and stable; the classical-guitar neck and humidor standard, also used for woodwind and flute bodies.
  • Mahogany — genuine mahogany, light and resonant with a strong midrange; classic for necks, backs and sides, and ukuleles.
  • Sapele — African ribbon-stripe with a bright, projecting tone; a durable, figured stand-in for mahogany on backs and sides. Janka 1,410.
  • Maple — hard, bright and reflective; prized for figured (flame and quilt) backs, sides and necks and for snare and drum shells. Janka 1,450.

All five are stocked kiln-dried and can be supplied quartersawn or as 8/4 billets for necks, blanks and turned parts.
