CUSTOM WOOD DOORS · MADE TO MEASURE IN PENNSYLVANIA
Real Wood Doors, Built to Your Exact Opening
Every door is made to order in our Allegheny Mountains shop, cut to your exact width and height and joined with traditional mortise-and-tenon construction — not veneer over a hollow core. Choose your style, hardwood, dimensions and finish above, and the designer prices your door instantly as you build it.
We build both interior and exterior doors in paint-grade poplar and stain-grade hardwoods — red and white oak, maple, cherry, walnut, mahogany, sapele and more — in any size, with no minimum order.
Why solid wood
A real wood door is a single, structural piece of joinery — stiles, rails and panels of solid hardwood locked together with mortise-and-tenon joints. It carries weight, takes a lockset, resists sagging and can be planed and refinished for the life of the building. Hollow-core and veneer-over-MDF doors do none of that.
About our hardwoods
We mill from rough kiln-dried stock at 6–8% moisture content and hand-select every board for straight grain, minimal defects and consistent color before it enters production. Paint-grade poplar, the oaks, maple, cherry, walnut, mahogany and sapele are all in regular inventory, with exterior-rated Azek for weather-exposed openings.
Machining & hand joinery
Every joint uses true mortise-and-tenon construction — no pocket screws, no biscuits, no dowels. We cut clean profiles on CNC routers and shapers, glue every joint with waterproof adhesive and reinforce critical connections. The result is a door that operates smoothly and holds square for generations.
Performance & finishing
Interior doors take the widest material and finish selection; exterior doors are built from durable species with exterior-rated adhesive and finish. Every door ships with a 150-grit final sand ready for your chosen finish, or primed, painted and finished by us on request.
Applications and Configurations
Solid doors suit passages, closets, pantries, bathrooms and room dividers. Depending on style and hardware they hang as hinged, pocket, sliding, bypass or paired doors, in single or double configurations — the designer above shows the valid sizes, jamb types and options for each build.
Interior and Exterior Specifications
Interior openings allow the widest material and finish selection. Exterior or high-humidity openings require a durable species or Azek, compatible adhesive and finish, and detailing suited to the exposure. Contact us when climate or coastal conditions affect the specification.
Material, Grain and Finish Selection
Choose paint-grade or stain-grade construction. Stock is conditioned for stable fabrication, then selected for color and grain consistency; matching and sequencing can be discussed for prominent multi-door installations.
Custom Doors and Design Assistance
We machine solid door profiles with dedicated tooling and can evaluate custom profiles, proportions and historic requirements. Matching shutters, cabinet doors, drawer fronts and related millwork can be specified together. Call 412-641-0177 for assistance.
Premium Wood Door Construction
Architects, builders and discerning homeowners specify Estate Millwork because we mill premium hardwood from rough stock in Pennsylvania, controlling quality, moisture, fresh glue surfaces and climate throughout production.
Our doors use precise joinery, true mortise-and-tenon construction, custom sizing and American manufacture. Priming, painting and finishing options are available where appropriate.

Custom Pocket Doors · Made in Pennsylvania
Pocket Doors, Built to Disappear Into the Wall
A pocket door reclaims the floor space a swinging door wastes, sliding cleanly into a pocket framed inside the wall — ideal for bathrooms, closets, pantries, home offices and any opening where a swing arc is in the way. Estate Millwork builds solid hardwood pocket doors in every panel style we offer, machined flat and true so they glide on the track and sit flush when closed.
Choose the style, species, thickness and finish above and the designer prices your pocket door instantly. No fixed sizes, no minimum order — and we build to the dimensions your pocket frame requires.
Where a standard door needs a clear arc to swing, a pocket door needs nothing — it slides straight into the wall, freeing the floor for furniture, fixtures and traffic. That makes it the right answer for small bathrooms, tight hallways, closets and open-plan rooms that need to close off on demand. Because the door is visible when open, a solid wood pocket door lets you carry your millwork's look right through the opening instead of settling for a hollow slab.
True Craftsmanship
Flat, True, and Built to Glide
A pocket door only works if it's dead flat — any warp and it drags in the pocket or won't sit flush. We mill pocket doors from thick, kiln-dried stock and join every rail and stile with true mortise-and-tenon construction so the door stays flat and square over time. Edges are machined clean for the track hardware, and we can prep the door for the sliding system you're using. The result is a door that glides silently and closes flush, year after year.
A pocket door doesn't limit your design — we build them in raised panel, flat panel, louvered, French/glass and more, in the full range of hardwoods from paint-grade poplar to oak, cherry, walnut and mahogany. Match a bathroom's louvered door for ventilation, a study's glass door for light, or a hallway's panel door for continuity. We hand-select and condition every board, and can advise on the right thickness and edge prep for your track hardware. Call 412-641-0177 for help.
Configurations
Single and double (biparting) pocket doors in any panel style, machined to the size your pocket frame requires. Valid options are shown live in the designer.
Performance & Finishing
Doors ship unfinished, primed or finished, and can be edge-prepped for common sliding-door hardware. We build flat and true so the door glides and sits flush.

Yes. We build pocket doors in raised panel, flat panel, louvered, French/glass and more, in the full range of hardwoods — the pocket application doesn't limit your design.
Will the pocket door stay flat and slide smoothly?
Yes. We mill from thick kiln-dried stock and use true mortise-and-tenon joinery so the door stays flat and square, which is what a pocket door needs to glide and sit flush.
Do you supply the sliding hardware and pocket frame?
We build the door itself and can edge-prep it for common sliding-door hardware; tell us your track system and we'll prepare the door to suit it.
Can you make biparting (double) pocket doors?
Yes — single and double biparting pocket doors are both available, machined to the opening your framing provides.
Can you build it to my exact opening?
Yes. Every pocket door is made to order to the dimensions your pocket frame requires, with no minimum quantity.
