The frame is milled from solid teak — stiles and rails joined with true mortise-and-tenon construction — and the panels are woven cane rattan set into a grooved frame, so the door ventilates a closet or pantry while keeping its contents out of sight. Rattan is a sub-style of our Custom door type: the designer above opens on it with this species selected.
CUSTOM TEAK CUSTOM DOORS · MADE TO SPECIFICATION IN PENNSYLVANIA
Teak Custom Doors, Built to Your Specifications
Teak custom doors are built to your exact specifications, showcasing the wood's golden-brown with darker streaks, aging to honey or silvery-gray in whatever design you envision. Whether you need an oversized entry door, a curved-top interior door, or a specialty configuration that no standard product line offers, Teak provides the workability and beauty to bring your vision to life. The straight grain with coarse, uneven texture and distinctly oily feel adapts beautifully to any door style or panel configuration. Can be left completely unfinished outdoors for decades. Our custom door program starts with your dimensions and design requirements, and our engineers translate them into precise machining programs that produce a perfect Teak door every time.
Why Teak for custom doors
Custom doors exist because standard sizes and styles cannot fit every opening or match every vision. Teak is particularly well suited to custom work because its straight grain with coarse, uneven texture and distinctly oily feel machines predictably and holds detail well across non-standard dimensions. Traditional wood of maritime construction. For finishing, Teak can be left unfinished; oil enhances golden color; marine varnish for glossy look. From concept to delivery, our custom Teak doors receive the same attention to material selection, machining precision, and assembly quality that we apply to every product in our lineup.
About our Teak
Our Teak is sourced from Southeast Asia, now primarily plantation-grown in Indonesia and Myanmar and arrives at our Pennsylvania mill as kiln-dried stock with moisture content between 6-8%. Teak rates 1,070 lbf Janka on the Janka hardness scale, classifying it as a moderately dense hardwood. The natural golden-brown with darker streaks, aging to honey or silvery-gray develops character over time as the wood responds to light and air. In terms of decay resistance, Teak offers Class 1 — the gold standard for durability; natural oils resist rot, insects, and marine organisms. Natural tectoquinone oils provide built-in protection. We hand-select each board for straight grain, minimal defects, and consistent color before it enters our production process.
Machining & hand joinery
Working with Teak in our shop requires specific knowledge of how this species behaves under tooling. The straight grain with coarse, uneven texture and distinctly oily feel responds well to our CNC routers and shapers, producing clean profiles with minimal sanding. Every joint in our Teak products uses true mortise-and-tenon construction — no pocket screws, no biscuits, no dowels. The lowest-maintenance wood available. We apply waterproof adhesive at every joint and reinforce critical connections with hardwood pegs. The result is a product built to outlast the building it adorns. For finishing, Teak can be left unfinished; oil enhances golden color; marine varnish for glossy look.
Performance & finishing
Teak is especially popular among homeowners and architects who value Can be left completely unfinished outdoors for decades. In terms of climate performance, Teak performs well in ultimate wood for salt air, tropical sun, standing water, and temperature swings. Every Teak product we build is backed by our commitment to quality: premium kiln-dried lumber, precision CNC machining, hand assembly, and a 150-grit final sand ready for your chosen finish. Traditional wood of maritime construction. Whether you are building new or renovating, Teak delivers a level of material quality and natural beauty that manufactured alternatives simply cannot replicate. Applications and Configurations
Solid custom doors suit closets, pantries, laundry and utility rooms, bathrooms, passages and room dividers. Depending on style and hardware they can be hung as hinged, pocket, sliding, bypass or paired doors, in single or double configurations. The designer above shows the valid sizes, jamb types and options for this build.
Interior and Exterior Specifications
Interior applications allow the widest material and finish selection. Exterior or high-humidity openings require an appropriate durable species or exterior-rated material, compatible adhesive and finish, and detailing suited to the exposure. Contact Estate Millwork when climate or coastal conditions affect the specification.
Material, Grain and Finish Selection
Choose paint-grade or stain-grade construction according to the material. Teak is conditioned for stable fabrication, then selected for color and grain consistency; matching and sequencing can be discussed for prominent multi-piece installations. Responsible-sourcing options can be quoted when certification is required.
