Our Spanish Cedar is sourced from Central and South American tropical regions and arrives at our Pennsylvania mill as kiln-dried stock with moisture content between 6-8%. Spanish Cedar rates 600-660 lbf Janka on the Janka hardness scale, classifying it as a lightweight tropical hardwood. The natural pinkish to reddish-brown that mellows to warm amber develops character over time as the wood responds to light and air. In terms of decay resistance, Spanish Cedar offers Class 1-2 durability — among the most naturally decay-resistant woods available. Excellent dimensional stability. We hand-select each board for straight grain, minimal defects, and consistent color before it enters our production process.

Working with Spanish Cedar in our shop requires specific knowledge of how this species behaves under tooling. The straight to interlocked grain with a moderately coarse texture and natural cedar scent responds well to our CNC routers and shapers, producing clean profiles with minimal sanding. Every joint in our Spanish Cedar products uses true mortise-and-tenon construction — no pocket screws, no biscuits, no dowels. Lightweight yet durable.
