The Plantation louvered shutter is a classic style, with one smaller field of louvers atop two equal sized, larger fields. This design is a true Southern classic, combining the good air flow of the louver with the strength of the extra rails, and the visual pull of the smaller louver field on the top of the shutter that draws the eye upward. The Plantation style is naturally prominent in Southern architecture, but can also be found in Georgian styled homes too. The standard thickness is 1 5/16" with 3/8" X 1 3/4" real louvers, but the dimensions can be modified to exactly match existing or historical shutters. Built with true mortise and tenon joinery, these graceful shutters will help to beautify any home.

These elegant shutters can be ordered with a number of options ranging from operable louvers to radius tops, and there are a variety of custom details that can be included in the design: rabbeted edges, custom sticking profiles. Most commonly, our window shutters are manufactured from Spanish Cedar and Western Red Cedar, and Poplar, although Estate Millwork can fabricate them from almost any type of wood.
