The LowCountry louvered shutter is an asymmetrical window shutter design with one smaller field of louvers over a larger field, separated by a rail. It is a distinctive design that created the illusion of progression and height with the smaller louver bank above the larger one. Another popular design in Southern Architecture, this design can also be found in the Florida Keys. The standard thickness is 1 5/16" with 3/8" X 1 3/4" real louvers, but the dimensions can be modified to exactly match existing or historical shutters. Built with true mortise and tenon joinery, and in solid hardwood, these shutters will add class and style to your home.

These elegant shutters can be ordered with a number of options ranging from operable louvers to radius tops, and there are a variety of custom details that can be included in the design: rabbeted edges, custom sticking profiles. Most commonly, our window shutters are manufactured from Spanish Cedar and Western Red Cedar, and Poplar, although Estate Millwork can fabricate them from almost any type of wood.
