Most installations just require you to remove the existing drawer fronts and reuse hardware to mount our drawer fronts onto the drawer boxes, typically with 2 bolts and one or 2 pulls or knobs. The cypress sapwood is very light in color and accounts for a small portion of the tree. Bald cypress heartwood varies from a pale yellow-brown to a dark reddish-brown, sometimes looking almost black. A rule of thumb, according to some, is that the deeper color the heartwood, the more decay resistant the wood. Cypress wood is very durable, stable, and water and rot-resistant, making it suitable for building and heavy construction. Exterior applications for cypress include boats, doors, shutters, siding and sashes, while interior applications include trim, architectural woodwork, doors and flooring.
While cypress has always been an architectural fixture in its main growth regions, it is being used throughout the United States in what had traditionally been cedar, redwood and treated pine applications
At Estate Millwork we air dry much of our lumber, and after air drying we finish drying in low wattage dehumidification kilns.
Every piece of wood we purchase is used to the fullest on products, at Estate Millwork we have a very high yield ratio of 94 percent due to the use of automated saws and optimizing software. The remainimg 6 percent which is mostly sawdust and chips are either burned to heat our plant or send to local cattle farmers for bedding and composting.
Nothing is wasted. Some of Appalachian lumber we use comes from Amish farmers in our county who harvest with horses instead of mechanized equipment, and do our rough sawing on 1920s sawmills that are also extremely low input compared to larger commercial sawmills of today. All of our imported lumber is plantation grown, and not harvested from natural forests.
