CUSTOM WOOD COUNTERTOPS · MADE TO MEASURE IN PENNSYLVANIA

Solid Wood Countertops,
Built to Your Exact Size

Every Estate Millwork countertop is glued up to order from clear, kiln-dried American hardwood — end grain and edge grain butcher block, wide plank, chevron, herringbone and parquetry — in the species, depth, length, thickness and edge profile you choose above, priced live as you build.

Choose maple, walnut, cherry, white oak, red oak, mahogany, sapele and more for the field, with an accent species for contrast. Food-safe finish options, no minimum order, factory-direct wholesale pricing, 100% made in the USA.

Blended grain butcher block wood countertop on a kitchen island

End grain vs. face grain butcher block

End grain butcher block stands each stave on end so knife edges slip between the wood fibers — the self-healing, knife-friendly surface used in professional chopping blocks. Face and edge grain butcher block lays the staves flat for long, flowing grain and a smoother look ideal for prep and serving counters.

About our hardwoods

We mill from rough kiln-dried stock at 6–8% moisture and hand-select every board for straight grain and consistent color. Hard maple, walnut, cherry, the oaks, mahogany and sapele are all in regular inventory for both the field and accent staves.

Glue-up & finishing

Every top is glued under pressure with waterproof, food-safe adhesive, then flattened, sanded to a satin surface and routed with your chosen eased, round-over, ogee or bullnose edge. Oil, oil-wax and durable film finishes are available.

Sizing, edges & care

Order any depth to 60" and length to 144", in 1½" to 3" thickness. Wood countertops can be sanded and re-oiled for decades, which makes them the most repairable counter surface you can buy.

Grain styles & patterns

Beyond classic butcher block we build wide-plank tops from a few wide boards, and geometric chevron, herringbone and parquetry tops that mix species into a pattern. A waterfall edge carries the grain continuously over the end and down to the floor.

Islands, perimeters & more

Wood countertops suit kitchen islands, perimeter runs, baking stations, bar tops and commercial prep counters. Pair them with a contrasting accent species or an integrated edge detail; the designer above shows valid sizes and options for each style.

Species, grain & color

Choose the field and accent species for the look you want — pale maple, golden oak, warm cherry or deep walnut. Stock is conditioned for stable fabrication and selected for color and grain consistency across the top.

Custom tops & design help

We can evaluate custom patterns, cutouts for sinks and cooktops, and matching millwork — doors, cabinets, drawer fronts and more — specified together. Call 412-641-0177 for assistance.

Premium Wood Countertop Construction

Architects, builders and discerning homeowners specify Estate Millwork because we mill premium hardwood from rough stock in Pennsylvania, controlling species, moisture, fresh glue surfaces and finish throughout production.

Our tops use tight, pressure-glued joinery, custom sizing and American manufacture, with food-safe finishing options where appropriate.

Wood Countertops FAQ

Can you build a countertop to my exact size?
Yes. Every top is made to measure to your specified depth and length — up to 60" deep and 144" long — with no minimum order. Set your size in the designer above for live pricing.
What wood species can I choose?
Hard maple, walnut, cherry, red and white oak, mahogany, sapele and more for the field, plus an accent species for contrast.
What is the difference between end grain and face grain?
End grain stands the staves on end for a self-healing chopping surface; face and edge grain lay them flat for long, flowing grain. Both are solid hardwood, built to order.
How do I care for a wood countertop?
Wipe clean and re-oil periodically. Because they are solid wood, they can be sanded and re-oiled for decades — the most repairable counter surface available.

Every countertop we make is solid wood, built to order at the size you specify, in fourteen species.

Choose the wood by where it lives: interior work takes any species, exposed work wants Mahogany, Cypress, Spanish Cedar, Western Red Cedar or Teak.

Enter your width and height in the designer above and the starting price on this page updates to that exact countertop; hardware, finish and jamb options price live as you add them.
