Sapele features interlocked grain producing a pronounced ribbon-stripe figure and golden to dark reddish-brown with a natural luster, with a Janka hardness rating of 1,410 lbf. This species is excellent hardness and weather resistance, making it ideal for exterior doors and shutters as a mahogany alternative.
