Once known as the finest outpost of the British Empire, Bermuda is a lovely island that is distinct for its colonial architecture, sweeping seaside panoramas, and this lovely style of shutter that is hinged from the top of the window, rather than the sides. It is held open with an adjustable shutter pole that allows the Bemuda Shutter to be completely closed (flush with the wall), or completely open (ninety degree angle with the wall). Bermuda shutters are wider than they are high, and often have multiple vertical frame members -- stiles and sub-stiles.
