Select from nine types of top-grade hardwood

Estate Millwork.s custom cabinet doors are available in nine top-grade hardwoods. All Estate Millwork lumber for our custom wood cabinet doors is purchased from dealers who practice sustainable harvesting techniques. Your options include:

  • Maple: This domestic hardwood is fire-resistant, split-resistant, and dent-proof, and is distinguished by its creamy beige color and tiger-whorl pattern.
  • Teak: This hardy golden-brown import wood is very termite-resistant, and endures humidity and moisture well.
  • Cherry: This hardwood is a domestic cut with excellent resistance to decay and a beautiful red-blonde tone.
  • Mahogany: This luminous, chocolaty red wood is an import with superior rot- and weather-resistance.
  • Red oak: This salmon-pink domestic hardwood is highly workable and prized for its beautiful, natural color.
  • White oak: This pale blonde domestic hardwood is loved for its exceptional water resistance and high density.
  • Walnut: A fine-grain domestic hardwood boasting a rich mocha or coffee bean color, walnut is dense and strong, yet easy to work with.
  • Poplar: This domestic hardwood, native to the American heartland and South, is a rich, creamy white-gold color; is highly resistant to splitting, and handles many different stains quite well.

Custom wood cabinet doors

All custom cabinet doors are crafted from top-grade cuts of wood, and are handled and finished in an Earth-friendly plant.

We offer three custom wood cuts

When customizing your wood cabinet doors, choose from three special wood-cutting techniques:

  • Crotch-grain: This custom cutting technique involves sawing lumber from the forked parts of trees, producing a rich, marble-like wood grain. The crotch-grain wood cut suits many custom cabinet door styles, and stains quite well.

  • Book-matching: Custom cabinet doors that feature book-matching cuts are highly symmetrical. This wood-cutting technique involves sawing wood slabs down the center so that the resulting pieces have mirror-image grain patterns.

  • Quarter-sawing: This wood-cutting technique is prized for its symmetry and consistency. Quarter-sawn custom cabinet doors are created when logs are quartered and lumber is cut against the tree.s ring pattern, producing wavy wood grains.

Other custom cabinet door options

Estate Millwork offers the following add-ons for our custom cabinet door collections:

  • Beveling: This customization involves planing wood cabinet door edges at an angle — typically, 45 degrees. Several different custom bevel cuts are available for cabinetry.

  • Radius work: This woodworking technique is used to enable custom cabinet doors to fit in rounded or oval-shaped corners. It is a unique and beautiful option for homes from many different architectural eras.

  • Inlays: Wood inlays are decorative wood pieces or carvings that are fitted to depressions or indentations in cabinet doors. We recommend inlays on our raised or flat panel custom cabinet doors.

  • Applied Mouldings: This customization technique is comprised of carved, raised wood panels attached to the outside edges of wood cabinet doors. Mouldings add strength to already naturally sturdy cabinet doors, and many different applied moulding possibilities are available.

Custom cabinet hardware options

Choose from several different styles of custom cabinet door hinges. Our popular styles include the New York .L. hinge; the 18th-century reproduction slim-line strap hinge, and the sturdy, timeless square-butt hinge.
