Colonial Plymouth Shutter

The original Colonial shutter. Brought to Plymouth Rock as a landing gangway for the Mayflower and later used at first Thanksgiving.

The Plymouth Colonial Flat Panel shutter is a dramatic and strong window shutter with three panels, all of equal size, and separated by rails. It is a simple and strong style, as those extra rails give the shutter great strength. The austere style of the Plymouth can make for a very flattering style on a wide range of homes. The Plymouth is prominent in Colonial style homes, but can find a place on any uncomplicated, simple design. The standard thickness is 1 5/16" in the frame, with 2 ½" wide Rails and Stiles, but the dimensions can be modified to exactly match existing or historical shutters. Built with true mortise and tenon joinery, and pegged with authentic hardwood dowels, these classic shutters will add character and history to your home.

These elegant shutters can be ordered with a number of options ranging from horns to radius tops, and there are a variety of custom details that can be included in the design: inlays, cut outs, and custom sticking profiles, among others. Our window shutters are most often manufactured from Spanish Cedar or Western Red Cedar, and easy to paint Poplar, although Estate Millwork can fabricate them from almost any type of wood.
